Let me introduce myself!
Like many teachers after nearly two decades of service I started to wonder what else I might be suited to and took a vocational guidance test.
After answering a multitude of questions as honestly as I could, it concluded that I should be a senior teacher of Economics and junior Commerce. How accurate, because that’s what I was!
But, it also listed what I was good at, interested in and cared about….I left teaching and began working in the contract housing industry helping people of all ages and walks of life to achieve their dream of a first home.
It was demanding work; educating, organizing, coaching and encouraging others but also very rewarding seeing the happiness and sense of achievement that home ownership made in the lives of individuals, couples and their families.
Like many people, despite being formally educated, I had no idea that I could invest and create wealth for the future. I hadn’t had an ‘investor mindset’ modeled for me and it wasn’t until I worked in the housing industry that I thought, “I could do that!” My only regret is that I didn’t start earlier and no one enlightened me sooner.
By chance I made the transition into investment property exclusively and have become a passionate advocate of the opportunities it provides for financial freedom and self determination.
After a solid grounding working for well known investment brands and as a natural progression, I took the step to undertake further training and to become a fully qualified investment property specialist and established my own independent property investment advisory, Investment Property PA.
I am a proud foundation member of the ASPIRE Network. Founded in 2011, it is an association of genuinely independent, compliant and highly qualified professionals setting the new benchmark in the property services sector. Such is the standard required to be a member of ASPIRE and the transparency of the process, that membership qualifies an advisor to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance – a real vote of confidence!
Property, unlike finance and financial planning is currently an unregulated space. Rigorous education and compliance standard would provide a natural barrier to entry that enhances the quality of the advice and service offered to prospective investors and also strengthens consumer protection.
My teaching career taught me much. Apart from patience, it taught me that good communication is as much about listening as it is talking. It’s also taught me the ability to relate to a wide variety of people and the importance of delivering what you promise, when you promise!
My role combines the two things I am most passionate about professionally, education and property. I genuinely believe that ‘abundance isn’t finite’ and I enjoy helping others to achieve their financial goals.
There are no shortcuts in life. Reward comes to those who educate themselves, plan, delay some immediate gratification, practice self-discipline (monetary and otherwise) and embrace self-determination.
What hasn’t changed throughout the years is my commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity and the belief, based in experience, that success is a function of the service you provide to others. Those I’ve dealt with personally over the years I believe will agree that what I offer is a professional service that is client focused, competent, friendly and above all, honest and ethical.
As a property investor myself, I understand and appreciate the importance of the decisions investors make and work to ensure they are comfortable and confident to invest.
This course is written for people who are curious about the possibilities and motivated to be proactive and to change their own and their family’s future by investing and creating wealth. The opportunities exist, but I also believe in going in with your “eyes open”. Both myself and my colleagues are committed to the values of honesty, integrity and transparency.
We believe that knowledge is power. Armed with knowledge you can make the decision to invest with confidence and resilience, with the best possible chance of success.
Hopefully, as you work through this course many of your questions will be answered. It has been written in plain language, starting from the rationale behind the power of investing and examining the finer details that you need to understand before committing to any long term investment. Property investment is not a get rich quick scheme! Time in the market is more important than timing.
